How To Prepare For Your Maternity Session

Apply a moisturizing lotion on your belly right before your photo shoot, and on any other dry skin that you might have.

Please have your hands and feet manicured as they will show in many of your portraits.  A french manicure or clear nail polish photographs MUCH better than colored polish, especially in black and white portraits.

I highly recommend getting your hair and makeup professionally done. There is nothing like the feeling of getting pampered for a photo shoot! So I say let the professionals do the work! Here is an artist I recommend that is based out of Vacaville – Cameron Alexis

Feel free to bring along any special toy or gift that you have for the new baby that you would like included in your portraits.

Wear one of your favorite maternity outfits that is comfortable and flattering to your form. Based on the time of year, and your style, you can wear pale colors for a more vintage look, or bold colors to really make the pictures vibrant!! For all you adventurous clients I recommend a long flowing dress to give it a sensual look in the photos.

Here are shops I recommend for maternity gowns, dresses and accessories:   Pink Blush    Roses and Ruffles    Sew Trendy Accessories

If you would like to incorporate a little flare then I recommend accent accessories. For example a flower crown, maternity sash or a vibrant necklace. I’m a fan of rich colors but you want to be delicate about incorporating your accessories.

If your significant other is going to be in the pictures as well please keep in mind that there will be close ups of their hands as well so they will want to moisturizer. Make sure to press their clothes as we want to avoid wrinkles, and I recommend a dress-casual look (See below).

Thank you for booking with Jaimi Lynn Photography and I can’t wait for our session!
